How to be the best doctor

Can you people tell what do really expect in the Best Doctor?

Here is what I expect...
1.  Patience to completely listen to the patient's problem.

2.  Ask questions to remove any communication gap.

3.  Give a thorough basic checkup.  Eg: Just looking at ear as the patient complained just that and not even being able to figure out that the patient is having high fever.

4.  Get labs or x-rays done if reqd in case a conclusive diagnosis cannot be reached by physical examination.

5.  Do not diagnose disease through Medicines.  (Some doctors give medicines to see if it works, if the patient is curing then he is having XYZ disease, if that drug has not been able to cure then try him on ABC and if it works then he is having EFG disease).  Have a conclusive diagnoses before prescribing any medication.

6.  Do not give all possible solutions together.  Meaning do not give all possible medications together. (Eg.  If a person is having cough either due to allergy or infection, some doctors give medication for both allergy AND infection together so the cough will stop without even a diagnosis.)

7.  Do not get unnecessary labs done on patients because the lab is paying good referral commission.

8.  Do not push unwanted medications into the patient to move the stock from the medical store to earn sales commission from medical shops and pharmaceutical companies.9.  Do not charge the patient again if he is visiting to clarify something the same day.

10.  Do not charge the patient again if the patient is coming back after two days with the SAME complaint because the prescribed things did not work (the diagnosis was wrong and it is doctor's duty to have made it right the first time).

11.  Remember the patients do not have as much knowledge about the diseases, so dont rebuke at the seem silly questions.

12.  Always inform the patient of the treatment plan.  What is the problem, how long it will take, what are the precautions, what are consequences, possibilities.

13.  Write the prescription LEGIBLY.  The educated patient should be able to make out if the pharmacist gives the right or wrong medication.

14.  Have an open display of the applicable charges like consultation fees, lab charges, etc.

15.  Lastly remember patients also belong to the same category as the doctors... human beings (not guinea pigs).
